Harmonizing Global Operations: One M Programs for Industrial Products Companies
Many global manufacturers of Industrial Products, seeking ways to reduce costs and increase operational efficiencies, have started moving towards the One Company approach what Capgemini is calling “One M” or “One Manufacturer”.
Many “One programs” are implemented with a focus on (IT) cost-saving. However, our experience from multiple projects with the largest OEMs, suppliers and diversified manufacturers has shown that even bigger business benefits can be recognized through the harmonization of processes. Defining what One means for the organization is not always easy ─ it does not necessarily mean that all functions and units need to work on the same system. Only when the end goal of the harmonized operations is well defined, it becomes possible to balance process harmonization and system consolidation in the right way.
